Utility, meaning useful and practical, is the digital file of work by designer Amanda Culpin.
Always more interested in less-is-more and in designing spaces that adapt to use rather than being a fixed entity, she is now focussed on what responsible, circular design in the built environment looks like.
After a career including commercial projects at Conran & Partners, with Insite in Melbourne Australian, teaching design in London, Santiago de Chile, at Bath Spa and as an independent practitioner, Amanda now works at sustainable & regenerative design studio Reassemble.
Summary approach: retain & repair first, rationalise space, maximise light, prefer natural finishes that will age well and design-in adaptability so that today’s space and its component parts have a long life of changing use and eventual repurpose.
Good design, useful and lasting.
